Here is a recipe for Shrimp Toast:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound shrimp, shelled and deveined
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg white
- 6 slices of white sandwich bread, crusts removed
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions:
1. In a food processor, pulse the shrimp, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, white pepper, salt, and egg white until a smooth paste forms.
2. Spread one side of each slice of bread liberally with the shrimp paste mixture.
3. Press the sesame seeds onto the shrimp mixture on the bread.
4. Cut each slice of bread into quarters.
5. Heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
6. Fry the toast in batches, shrimp side down, until the shrimp turns pink and the sesame seeds are golden brown, about 1 to 2 minutes.
7. Flip and cook until the bread is golden brown, about 1 to 2 more minutes.
8. Drain the toast on paper towels.
9. Garnish with additional sesame seeds, if desired.
10. Serve warm and enjoy!
Note: You can also use a deep fryer to fry the shrimp toasts, if you prefer.
